Msi monitor cpu gpu temps3/31/2024 ![]() ![]() In these cases, posting an image of the HWinfo sensors or something else can be extremely helpful. In cases where it is relevant and you are seeking help, then in order to help you, it's often necessary to SEE what's going on, in the event one of us can pick something out that seems out of place, or other indicators that just can't be communicated via a text only post. Always select the "Sensors only" option when running HWinfo. HWinfo is great for pretty much EVERYTHING, including CPU thermals, core loads, core temps, package temps, GPU sensors, HDD and SSD sensors, motherboard chipset and VRM sensor, all of it. They are also almost religiously kept up to date.ĬoreTemp is great for just CPU thermals including core temps or distance to TJmax on AMD platforms. I've found HWinfo or CoreTemp to be the MOST accurate with the broadest range of chipsets and sensors. Some are actually grossly inaccurate, especially with certain chipsets or specific sensors that for whatever reason they tend to not like or work well with. Getting a base is a must nowadays, I would say.HWmonitor, Open hardware monitor, Realtemp, Speccy, Speedfan, Windows utilities, CPU-Z, NZXT CAM and most of the bundled motherboard utilities are often not the best choice as they are not always accurate. Some laptops just don't have decent (not even good) cooling solutions and they overheat. Going a bit further on this, I live in Argentina (Up to 40☌ in summer) and I had to buy a cooling base for my *work* laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen2), and we have AC in our office! (i tried, without the cooler it becomes literally unplayable after ~10 minutes - thermal throttling.) that would be like 20-25 without the cooler. Holliday in italy, 35C+, the attic, Monster Hunter World 1080p, ~42fps. ![]() ![]() Heres my setup (and its not even a real "gaming laptop" (i5/940mx) but still gets really hot under load! but for a gaming laptop i somehow expect people to be more considerate and well, fans really help! Same with 1 big fan in the middle, that'll do nothing on most laptops. Top one has a good layout, bottom one will do nothing when the intakes are by chance on the top, left and right (which they actually are often) Also running games at lower settings will help alot, when ever I game on my laptop I leave things on medium. Best thing you can do is get a laptop stand that allows for a big unobstructed space beneath your laptop where the fan intakes are. My predator helios 300 can go up to 92 degrees celsius while at full load which is normal in laptops, I don't know if 97 is pushing it a bit though. I haven't been keeping up with laptops for the past 2 years but MSI laptops are usually bad with cooling with loud fans. is there maybe a problem with the cooling system or thermal paste? Or will I just have to deal with 60 to keep my temps down?ĭo you have something to prop up your laptop like a laptop cooler? That way the fans have more space to draw air. I have a 144hz display on this laptop and want to run my games past 60 to make the most of this monitor, but I'm also nervous that the high amounts of heat will decrease the lifespan of this laptop. I tested this for like an hour in DOOM Eternal. Graphics card is Nvidia RTX 3060 laptop GPU and CPU is Intel Core i7-12650HĪ few things I've tried is using MSI center to change the user scenario to Super Battery, which seems to help a bit, and I've capped my global FPS at 60 in Nvidia Control Panel, which usually keeps my temp well below 80☌, except for one brief moment where I saw it go into the 90s again. I got a gaming laptop for Christmas this year and realized that it gets to very high CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming at full capacity, going as high as 97☌. Hi, not sure if this topic belongs in this category and there doesn't seem to be a lot of topics about gaming laptops, but if this belongs somewhere else I can move it. ![]()
